The Secret Room

There is a room in our new/old house that I haven’t spoken of.

It’s the attic. Yep, a third floor

The house had me with the attic. It’s full of rafters, old wood, little alcoves, 2 little windows. super coolness.

It currently does not have any plywood on the floors to walk on so you have to maneuver on the floor joys without falling through the ceiling below.

Today, that gets fixed. No more worrying about falling through the floor. We are putting down plywood.

Steve – Let’s go get plywood for the attic floor today.

Me – Ok sounds good.

What exactly does that mean? Well let me tell you.

Plywood comes in 8 foot sheets. To get the plywood into the attic the sheets must be ripped in half so that they are only 4 foot wide. Why do you say????????

Well………this is the reason. see that hole in the ceiling. Thats currently the only entrance into the attic. oh boy.

I am resilient. I’m tough. I can do this.

Step 1 =  go to Lowes. Load 10 sheets of plywood onto a big huge cart thing that holds lumber

Step 2 = have the Lowe’s guy cut the full sheets in half. Pay for the plywood. I always hate that part. Load the plywood in the truck, nope. Find a guy while Steve gets the truck and watch him load the plywood.

Step 3 =  here’s where I come in minus paying the bill at Lowes. Steve parks in the front so that the plywood can be unloaded. Now remember, the 10 sheets of plywood have now been cut into 20 sheets.

Here are the stairs. oh boy.

Steve shimmies up into the attic. No really he uses a ladder. HA!

I then gather 1/2 sheet of plywood and lift it over my head and maneuver it through the hole in the ceiling.

I want you to come back for more, so pictures of the attic coming soon 🙂

the back of my arm is larger than the front.
